Rolex Datejust II 116334
Known as Datejust II
The 116334 is the two-tone version of the Datejust II, the 41mm Datejust Rolex ran from 2009 to 2016 before the Datejust 41 replaced it. Steel Oyster case and bracelet, 18k white gold fluted bezel. This is the reference for the buyer who wants a Datejust with real wrist presence but does not want yellow or Everose gold on his arm. The white gold bezel reads as steel from three feet away, so you get the fluted-bezel sparkle and the hardness of a gold bezel without the two-tone flash. We see these come across the counter constantly on 47th Street, and the ones with box and papers move the fastest. The Datejust II sat on the market for a few years as the 'big Datejust nobody could size right' complaint, but the wider case and thicker lugs have aged into their own following. It is the transitional model between the classic 36mm Datejust and the current Datejust 41, and collectors have started to price it accordingly.

Market & Value
As of mid-2026 the two-tone 116334 in steel and white gold trades at roughly $10,500 on average in the pre-owned market, with clean examples on Chrono24 spanning about $9,500 to $12,800 depending on dial, condition, and whether it carries original box and papers. Diamond-dial and rarer dial configurations push higher. WatchCharts shows the reference up around 3.9% over the trailing year and roughly flat to slightly down over five years, which is normal for a discontinued Datejust: it is a steady wearer's watch, not a speculative flip. Median time to sell has been running around three weeks, so there is real liquidity here. From the buy side, that means we can write a fair check quickly, and from the sell side it means a good example does not sit. Box and papers, an unpolished case, and a factory dial are the three things that separate a strong number from an average one.
What to Know Before You Buy
Three things to check before you buy or sell a 116334. First, the bezel is genuine 18k white gold, not steel, so a scratched or dinged bezel is an expensive repair and factors into the offer; run your thumb across the flutes. Second, the case is 41mm with fairly slab-sided lugs, so it wears larger than a 36mm Datejust and does not taper the way the newer Datejust 41 does; try it on a smaller wrist before you commit. Third, know your caliber: the 116334 runs the 3136 with the blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock protection, which is the more robust movement than the older 3135, and a service history on that movement is worth asking for. Dial matters more than most buyers think. The silver and rhodium index dials are the volume sellers, while blue Roman and Arabic-numeral dials are less common and command a premium. Watch for aftermarket diamond dials and refinished dials; a redialed 116334 is worth meaningfully less than a factory one.
